Jo Moloney and Katja Fischer, Directors
We first opened Bedford Community Counselling in 2012 and since then have offered high quality, ethical and professional counselling to our local community. We have always believed in providing excellent care for our clients and as a Community Interest Company we have made the commitment to our local community to offer an affordable service for adults over 18. BCC is a general practice and so we are able to work with a wide range of client issues, but we’re also able to offer specialist trauma, relational and forensic therapies.
We’re both highly experienced and qualified therapists, clinical supervisors and practice managers, with 25+ years’ counselling experience between us. Our specialisms include DIT, specialist relational therapies, EMDR, specialist trauma therapies, and forensic therapy. We have experience of working within the NHS and education. For many years, we have been proud to provide highly successful placements to Diploma students, supporting them as they gain valuable clinical experience.

We’ve always been proud to be a little bit different to other counselling services! We have always offered open-ended counselling to our clients, rather than limiting them to a fixed number of sessions. As a not-for-profit organisation, we have always offered a sliding scale of fees which means that most people can find a fee that works for them, rather than charging a higher fixed amount which is non-negotiable.
All clients will have an initial assessment by either Jo or Katja, and then will be placed with the most suitable therapist from our team.
BCC’s Counselling Team is made up of professionally qualified and trainee counsellors who volunteer with us, offering a variety of therapeutic approaches to our clients, including Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Existential and Integrative. Every Therapist is fully insured, holds a current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and is a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy or other recognised governing body. We therefore work in accordance with the BACP’s Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
We’re proud that all of our qualified counsellors are either accredited or working towards accreditation.
At the heart of everything we do is a sincere wish to provide a compassionate, professional and effective service to our clients where individuality, diversity and equality are celebrated.
